IT'S BEEN A WHILE...
Hi everyone... Marilyn here. I apologize for not keeping you updated with Kelly's progress. The transition to home has been fantastic... yet challenging :) Kelly continues to improve on a DAILY basis... baby steps. He is becoming much more responsive with "helping" move arms and legs... he works very hard when he has someone to challenge him.
We had a short stent in the hospital with a swollen leg, but nothing serious. I hated to haul him to the hospital with the help of EMS, but positive results were blessed upon us. For two days we didn't have to pay for medication or nursing care... I can't believe how expensive everything is. On his discharge, I went to the pharmacy to pick up the meds, it was $1,200 for 30 days! I immediately call the doc and asked him what Kelly could "live with out"... so after that and a couple of OTC solutions, we got it down to $650.
Yes, I have applied for assistance through disability and medicare. There is a five month waiting period before you get anything. We are currently using the donated funds to purchase medications, medical equipment and home health/CNA assistance.
We appreciate your continued support to volunteer time, meals and companionship.
